Rags to Riches...

What are we in the Presence of a Holy God? Who can stand before the throne of the Lord God Almighty? While it is true that Moses asked to see God’s glory, the Lord told him that he could not see his face. In Exodus 33 God said plainly, for there shall no man see me and live. Truly his ways are higher than ours. In his perfect holy perfection, our sin cannot stand. Even at our best, we would be consumed before the power and the righteous might of his glory. Isaiah said well in chapter 64 of his book. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as rags. Do not be distressed by these words. Be thankful and be humbled by the fact that there is one who stands in his presence for you. 1st Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. It is true that you cannot stand in the presence of the Lord God Almighty. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom. But if you know the Lamb of God our mediator, you stand in him who is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. In Christ you have an advocate with the Father.

Jesus said in John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Jesus confirms this teaching in the 20th verse of John 14. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. Absolute blessings from the word of God. Our sin nature is real. Our sin is real. God’s Great White Throne judgment is real. But it is also real that if you know Christ Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you have become part of the greatest rags to riches story ever. Taking from eternal damnation to eternal glory. The longsuffering God of heaven has called you into his royal family. He has sent the Mighty Counsellor to redeem you from all iniquity. The veil has been torn in two so that you may come to the throne of grace boldly. Your garments of filthy rags to be replaced by white raiment which represents the righteousness of the saints. You may now live in the promises of God’s word and grow in the knowledge and grace of who he is. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

What are we in the presence of a Holy God? If we are In Christ, we are his children. Who can stand before the throne of the Lord God Almighty? His children. Amen!
