2nd Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
We the people of God are often astounded at the wickedness we see from our governments, the media, the masses, and even people we know personally who do not know the Lord. If we are honest with ourselves, we are equally astounded with our own iniquity in our times of rebellion against God. The wickedness is purely a by-product of sin. It is a life void of understanding, lacking in love, and not realizing that God has a better way for all of us. By his mercy he has commanded the light to shine out of this darkness. Our weak flesh is drawn to this darkness like a moth to a flame. The devil and his cohorts are more than willing to shield you from the light as much as they possibly can.
We are the people that once sat in great darkness. The light of the Father has been sent to you. By his grace through your faith this light can truly shine in your hearts. The light of Christ is real. It is your blessed hope and in terms of salvation your only hope. Satan knows this. It is in his evil will to deceive you into anything but Christ. He employs the deceit of false religion and the lie of self-righteousness at every turn. Many never see it coming, and no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. That is why our Savior warns us in Luke 11:35: Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. There is a counterfeit light that many will follow into eternal damnation. God is offering the light of the knowledge of his glory. The bible says it is in the face of Christ. Jesus is the express image of our great creator. Everything else will fall short of his redemptive love.
Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of God rather reprove them. We do not coexist, that is where the darkness thrives. We are in Christ alone. The bible proclaims the saints to be the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness. When the Holy Spirit convicts us and we see our need for salvation, God says, let there be light, and Christ enters. Hallelujah! And Amen! Matthew 5:16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The day is coming where God will place darkness in its tomb. A final resting place for sin and death. But it will not be for those of the light. For those who know Jesus Christ as their Savior, God will be their light for all eternity. Acknowledge these truths and live accordingly.
Romans 13:12. The night is far spent; the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the Armour of light.
