Will the foundation weather the storm?


The United States of America was founded on godly principles and a system of justice. The foundation was laid by men of God who believed that tyranny should not be welcomed into this new land, and that freedom was precious. Honest history teaches us that those who penned the declaration of independence and the constitution understood well the word of God and the power thereof. They read the scriptures that taught how the Almighty laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed forever. They believed verses like Hebrews 1:10, which says; And, thou, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands. The founding fathers wanted to build this nation on a foundation blessed by God. Knowing that man was evil, they desired a government that would follow Christian values and protect freedom from the oppressor at all costs. It was unique in the sense that it would be a government of the people by the people and for the people. Not a dictatorship, not a line of kings, and not an empire of tyranny.


Famous American statesman and our 2nd President John Adams sums up this thought process very well. He said our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. Foundational leaders such as Adams gave this country the hope of freedom for many generations. What have we become? Psalm 11:3: “If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?” We were found on a bedrock of principles unparalleled throughout human history. Who brought this battering ram to our foundations? Who allowed this to happen? We could debate this endlessly, and perhaps to no avail. But facts are facts, and this is what I think. We need our leaders to be moral God-fearing Christians. Instead we are living in a Psalm 12:8 situation. The bible says, “The wicked walk on every side when the vilest men are exalted.” When we listen, The Holy Spirit teaches us well.

We have reached a point of no return. We cannot fix this. Our once great nation would make ancient Babylon blush. We are Sodom and Gomorrah. The land of the free has become the land of failure. Broken promises, broken elections, broken health care system, broken roads, broken religion, broken families, and worst of all broken hearts which are everywhere. The deep roots of apathy have blinded many of us to the reality of just how dark and demented our leaders have become. With world war three on the horizon and inflation skyrocketing we are in deeply perilous times. And Jesus said when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Amen! The fearful do not inherit the Kingdom. All empires of this world fall. More so, everything outside of the grace of God fails. Do you build your spirituality on the foundations of man or on the Rock that is Jesus Christ? I have nothing against patriotism. But what is it without the love of God?

The foundations maybe destroyed, but the Almighty is on the throne. In our country, we have leaders elected and unelected who are wicked without measure. But the saints have Christ as their everlasting King. This world will melt with fervent heat, but we will abide with our Savior. Jesus taught well that those who build their house upon the Rock will survive the storm. Do not fret in the face of evil. As Noah entered the Ark in the days of the flood, we enter the Ark Of the Lord of lords. He is our only hope, he is our strength, and blessed be all who have built upon the teachings and truth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Luke 12:32, Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
